The new ATI Radeon HD 5800 series are the first graphic card that able to fully support for DirectX 11. Regarding to the launch of Windows 7 and DirectX 11 on the next October 22, 2009, AMD has released the new ATI Radeon HD 5800 series. There are 2 types of ATI Radeon HD 5800 series, ATI Radeon HD 5870 and ATI Radeon HD 5850 GPU that uses the same core that previously called Cypress. This is the most powerful processor right now.

These processors have 2.15 billion transistors, which is almost 3 times the number of transistors on Intel's Core i7 CPUs. ATI Radeon HD 5870 running at 850 MHz clock and the ATI Radeon HD 5850 at 725 MHz.

ATI Radeon HD 5870 has 1600 stream processors with performance 2.72 teraflops of compute power, making Radeon 5870 the greatest single GPU right now and will be sold at a price around 400 USD. While ATI Radeon HD 5850 has 1440 stream processors and priced around 290 USD. Both are equipped with 1GB GDDR5 memory and uses dual slot design.

ATI Radeon HD 5800 series support "Eyefinity" features which allows the use of 3 monitors at once through just 1 video card. All cards on the 5800 series will have 2 dual-link DVI ports, HDMI and DisplayPort ports. In the next version, Eyefinity is planned will support up to 6 monitors.
